Winter Capsule Wardrobe

It is chilly more often than not these days so that means it is time to switch the Fall capsule wardrobe for a Winter one! I talked about the process to create a capsule wardrobe in this post, but switching Fall to Winter and then again from Spring to Summer is a quick process.

Once you have the number and type of items (ex. 4 pants, 5 long sleeved shirts. etc) it is easy to switch them out for warmer options. You can also change the number and type if you want- there are no rules, only general guidelines when it comes to capsule wardrobes.

Switching out my Fall to Winter capsule wardrobe only took about 10 minutes. Going from Winter to Spring may take a little longer because the seasons are going from cold to warmer. The idea is to spend a little time planning your capsule so that you do not have to spend any time choosing clothes for several weeks.

Here are several of my outfits in my Winter capsule. I will link everything I can here, but it is not necessary to have the exact items to create these general looks for the season.

I mentioned this in the previous capsule wardrobe post, too- it is not necessary to get new things each season to create a capsule. You can shop your closet each season and add a few new things if you want, but it is not necessary. Sometimes when there is a closet full of clothes it may appear there is nothing to wear until a few select items are chosen and strategic outfits are made.

I loved hearing from you all last season after introducing the capsule wardrobe concept. I have been doing this for several seasons and it only gets more fun! Sometimes I will swap a few things out during the season if I notice I am not wearing those items like I originally intended. Other times I may start with 30 items and end up with 35, but either way- getting ready for the day takes no time at all when you are working with a capsule wardrobe.

I also used capsule wardrobes when I was working outside of the home, but I allowed myself 40 items.

Give it a try- I bet you will also love the simplicity capsule wardrobes bring to the start of the day!

Until next time,

karla
